What that means in dollars: on a median $416,000 home with 20% down, this week's rate puts the principal-and-interest payment at $2,136/month, about $5 less than at last week's rate.
The 30-year fixed fell to 6.65% this week, 0.02 points below last week, near the top of its 12-month range of 5.98% to 6.69%.
The 15-year fixed averaged 5.95%, down from 5.96% last week.
For context, the 30-year rate has ranged from 5.98% to 6.69% over the past year. The last time rates were lower was the week of July 23, 2026.
